Walldorf, January 21, 2002. - REALTECH AG, a leading supplier of technology consultancy for mySAP.com and software solutions, has developed a new data collector for EMC Symmetrix® information storage systems, allowing mutual customers to benefit from a unique system management solution that controls the entire system environment - from the applications to storage level - by means of a centralized monitoring unit (single point of control). This relieves the IT department of routine activities and reduces costly downtime.
Through REALTECH's membership in EMC's E-InfostructureT Developers Program, REALTECH has leveraged EMC open application programming interfaces (APIs) to enable EMC Symmetrix monitoring and reporting capabilities integrated within REALTECH's the Guard! ApplicationManager. Designed as a "multithreaded" architecture, it collects detailed configuration and performance data and divides this into categories (events, statistic values, properties, and states). These values can then be used to generate alarms, create reports, and monitor the system. Within theGuard! System Management Suite, the information can also be linked with network and application data, thus providing a complete view of the system as a whole and allowing errors to be tracked and rectified intelligently up to device level.
theGuard! System Management Suite is a family of products for application and system management that detects potential system errors before they occur and thus avoids downtime. As a result, customers can be sure of high availability and performance for critical company applications at all times. The core component is theGuard! ApplicationManager. For the purposes of monitoring, reporting, analysis, and problem-solving, the software uses what are known as data collectors. These enter, correlate, analyze, and filter all relevant data and classify it in accordance with priority levels.
