Walldorf, April 26, 2007 - REALTECH AG, manufacturer of application and system management software and SAP consulting firm, introduces the new theGuard! Service Management Center which gives its customers the ability to implement an ITIL-compliant management of heterogeneous IT infrastructures. This is achieved with the new Business Process Monitoring that was developed specifically for this purpose and the new VAA technology (Visual Assisted Analysis) - a visual method for the modeling and analysis of complex IT landscapes.
The Business Process Monitoring is based on a new correlation technology that avoids floods of events that have been all too common in the past. The system uses the integrated Correlation Engine to check and analyze the availability and performance of mission-critical business process on the basis of status information for the monitored components. It is also possible to include data from external sources into the process. A decisive advantage is that the correlation is no longer carried out on the basis of complex sets of rules. The status of the business processes is automatically determined and analyzed and all users can access the data via a Web application. The persons in charge of the respective processes are given an instant overview of their most important business processes allowing them to detect disruptions immediately and to act accordingly.
The VAA (Visual Assisted Analysis) developed by REALTECH offers an entirely new method for the analysis of IT infrastructures. The procedure delivers detailed graphical analyses of, for example, networks at the click of a button. Here the VAA technology supports the informational capacity of the human eye in order to extract essential information from complex contexts. This makes it easier for the staff members in charge of the system to detect and solve performance problems. This is also achieved with the redesigned Configuration Management Database (CMDB) that is based on a normalized data model. The database is filled mainly through automated discovery functions. The Service Management Center can compare the CIs (configuration items) with pre-defined target values and log any changes to the CIs.
On a technological level, the Service Management Center is made up of functional blocks taken from the REALTECH products theGuard! NetworkManager and theGuard! ServiceCenter.
The high level of automation results in a speedy project implementation and therefore in a pragmatic introduction to the ITIL-compliant management of heterogeneous IT infrastructures. The software follows a modular design, is arbitrarily scalable and therefore independent of the size and complexity of the system and network landscapes.
