The innovative procedure can be carried out in two ways: either through the REALTECH software “InterfaceManager IM/3” or the SAP Exchange Infrastructure (XI).
In order to do this, a copy of the productive SAP system is made prior to the scheduled maintenance. Users are then redirected to this copy where they continue working while the upgrade is performed on the original system. During this, user entries and data are logged within the system copy and forwarded to InterfaceManager IM/3 or SAP Exchange Infrastructure (XI). The data is then consistently transferred into the new system after successful completion of the upgrade on the original system and users are switched back. The system will only be unavailable for a brief moment during this user switch.
