Most applications log their events in one or more files. Especially severe errors can often only be found in those logs.

Automated and easily configurable monitoring guarantees fast error recognition. 

The data collector permits centralized monitoring of all log files with respect to various criteria. In this, a specific log is a managed object that can be individually processed.

The following log attributes are collected and monitored:

• file age (total age, age since last modification)
• file size
• date of modification
• file contents based on configurable search terms

Monitoring and filtering of messages within a file can be configured as follows:

• normal logical expressions
• enhanced regular expressions according to the POSIX Notation
• reporting of context in the surrounding of the actual error message (configurable amount)
• buffer for log entries
