Fujitsu Siemens Computers FlexFrame

Adaptive systems permit hardware virtualization and dynamic resource allocation (processors, memory, disk space). Operation and management of applications like SAP is even more efficient on this type of system.

The following features make FlexFrame stand out:

  • virtualized SAP applications: SAP program components are installed centrally and supplied “on demand“ via the application node
  • jointly shared Unix operating system and netboot: a central Unix operating system facilitates installation and update of operating systems rendering deployment software unnecessary
  • Network Attached Storage (NAS): the storage solution by Network Appliance facilitates storage networking by integration through an IP network
  • integrated high-availability: control nodes monitor all FlexFrame components rendering complex and costly cluster configuration unnecessary

FlexFrame – architecture and management requirements

FlexFrame fully virtualizes networks and servers. This gives end users transparent application availability at any time and to any extent no matter on which physical server the databases or SAP Application Servers are located. An application for real-time monitoring like theGuard!ApplicationManager has to be able to track this kind of virtualization and dynamic at any time.

theGuard! ApplicationManager for FlexFrame

theGuard! ApplicationManager performs real-time monitoring of SAP systems and databases on FlexFrame architectures. Connections to the monitored systems are tracked automatically without manual intervention. New SAP instances are automatically detected and incorporated into monitoring activities without prior configuration.

theGuard! NetworkManager permits central logging of operating system and network data and subsequent correlation within a cross-functional console.
